Ugh the thought of body image….

Negative body thoughts are not permanent or inherent – they are thinking patterns that you were guided into by what we see everyday and the cultural influences.

There influences come from many different areas:

Social media
Friends you choose to social with
Beliefs of your family and friends
Who you spend most of your time with

As you move throughout your week your body-image literally gets influences along the way.

But don’t freak yet you do have control over your feelings of body image!

Hang with people who bring you up
Consume media images that are body positive
Choose to participate in healthy conversations

So here is what you can do now if you haven’t already.  It’s time to take an honest inventory of influences that affect your relationship with food and body.

Ready! Let’s do it!

*What are you reading in your spare time?
Diet books that tell you to restrict food choices and how much you eat. – basically always making you feel terrible about your choices
OR
Body positive literature – self help books that make you feel empower and confident with who you are ❤️

What conversations are you engaging in with your friends and the people you spend most of your time with?
Are you always stuck talking about negative experiences and feelings?
OR
Do you find yourself constantly staying up beat and bring the positive to situations? ❤️

What are you looking at on social media?
Do you find yourself constantly comparing yourself to others and wishing things were different? – let me tell you in todays culture will all the beautiful instagram pictures we can all find ourselves guilty of this one.
OR
Do you find yourself appreciating others adventures and being thankful for your life? ❤️

Who are you spending your time with?
People who love to body-hate on you or themselves (e.g. “ughgh I gained so much weight over the holidays”) or women who are constantly talking about what diet they are on now…
OR
People who express how much they make self care a priority and know how to make themselves feel loved and cared for ❤️

Think about your answers. Take inventory. Make changes where appropriate and possible.

Don’t worry every one of us can make changes in almost all of these areas!

The important thing is to continue to work on a better you everyday!
